American volunteers work with children

American invests in groups that help our communities

American proudly supports nonprofit organizations that work to make a difference in the communities where we work, live and play. With the help of our employees and our customers, the airline’s collective humanitarian efforts provide assistance to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits whose missions aim to aid children, our military service members and those affected by unexpected adversity. To support this work, and ensure the greatest impact and reach, we concentrate our investment in the airline’s hub cities.

Our support is provided in three ways:
  1. In-kind contributions: American donates to nonprofit organizations in the form of AAdvantage® mileage certificates.
  2. Volunteerism: Our employees give back to their communities by volunteering in projects through our volunteer program, Do Crew.
  3. Cash support: There are limited opportunities to receive a cash contribution.
